What happens if I edited testimonials by mistake
Here's the key thing to know: Senja lets you edit a testimonial after it's been collected, but there's no undo button or restore option once you save. If you accidentally changed the wording and you know what it said, open the testimonial again and edit the text back manually.
This is applicable for all Senja plans: Free, Starter, and Pro.
What you can edit after a testimonial is submitted
From the Proof page, you can open a testimonial and click Edit to update its details. You can edit:
Testimonial text
Testimonial title
Rating
Images
Language
Testimonial source
Source URL
Submission date
Translations
Highlighted parts of the testimonial
For the full editing steps, see How do I edit a testimonial?.
Editing testimonial text is only available for the response to the primary question.
What happens when you save an edit
The edited version replaces what was there before. There's currently no way to:
Undo the last text edit
Restore the original wording automatically
View a revision history
Whatever you save is what shows on that testimonial record — unless you edit it again manually.
Can you restore the original words?
There's no built-in restore option. But if you still have the original wording somewhere, click Edit, paste the text back in, and click Save.
You might find the original wording in:
Email notification about incoming testimonial, if it's coming from Senja forms
The source platform, for example if the testimonial is coming from imports
Export document (if you exported it before)
A screengrab, if the testimonial text is coming from manual import of images
Slack notification, if you connect Senja to Slack
If the issue is that the testimonial was deleted, not edited, use How to recover a deleted testimonial? instead.
Best way to create a shorter version
If you want a shorter quote for a widget, landing page, or social proof section, do not edit your only copy. Instead:
Duplicate the testimonial
Edit the duplicate into the shorter version you want to show
Add a tag so you can tell the short version apart from the original
This keeps the full testimonial intact. For that workflow, see How to show only part of a long testimonial.
Best practices before editing a submitted testimonial
Duplicate first if you want a snippet, teaser, or shortened quote
Tag the original clearly so you can find it later
Check whether you are editing the main testimonial or a duplicate before clicking Save
Use highlights for emphasis instead of rewriting the full text where possible
Keep a copy of the original wording if the exact phrasing matters for approval or compliance
If the person who submitted the testimonial wants to make a change
A new submission doesn't replace an older one. Each submission is stored as a separate testimonial.
If someone wants to correct a typo or update what they said, they should contact you directly so you can edit it manually.
See Submitting multiple testimonials or updating an existing one for more details.
