Overview
By default, the Star Rating widget counts all testimonials you've collected, regardless of whether they have a star rating. This can be misleading if you want to show the total number of testimonials that include a rating. This guide will walk you through the steps to configure your Star Rating widget to count and display only the testimonials that have a star rating.
The best way to achieve this is to create a specific collection of testimonials that only includes those with star ratings, and then connect your widget to this collection.
Prerequisites
You must have admin privileges to create collections and manage widgets.
Steps
Create a Collection for Star-Rated Testimonials:
Navigate to your collections page.
Create a new collection and name it something descriptive, like "Star-Rated Testimonials."
Manually add all the testimonials that have a star rating to this new collection.
Configure the Star Rating Widget:
Go to the widget settings in your dashboard by navigating to
/studio/widget
.Click on "Select Testimonials" to open the testimonial selector.
In the "Filters" panel on the left, find the "Tags" section.
Click "Select tags" and choose the "Star-Rated Testimonials" collection you just created.
Click "Save Filters".
Save Your Widget:
Click "Save changes" to update your widget.
There is currently no direct setting to "Only count testimonials with star ratings." The method described in this article is the recommended workaround to achieve this functionality.
Verify the Setup
Once you've saved your changes, the Star Rating widget on your website should update to show the count of only the testimonials you added to your "Star-Rated Testimonials" collection. You can verify this by checking the widget on your site and comparing the count to the number of testimonials in your collection.
