This guide explains how to claim your non-profit, charity, NGO, or student discount with Senja, as well as how to apply promotional codes during subscription upgrades.
Before you start
Make sure you understand which discount applies to you:
Non-profit/NGO/Charity: 30% off for life - learn more about non-profit discounts
Student: Separate discount program - learn more about student discounts
Promotional codes: Limited-time offers from partners, affiliates, or special campaigns (e.g., OCTOBRE, NEXTLEVEL)
How to apply a discount code during Stripe checkout
When you upgrade your Senja account, you'll be redirected to Stripe's secure checkout page. This is where you must apply your promo code before completing payment.
Critical: Apply your code BEFORE payment. Once you complete the payment process, your subscription will activate at full price. You cannot retroactively apply discount codes to completed transactions.
Step 1: Start the upgrade process
Go to Senja's pricing page or navigate to your upgrade page
Select your preferred plan (Starter or Pro)
Click the button to start your subscription
You will be redirected to the Stripe checkout page
Step 2: Apply your promo code on the Stripe checkout page
Don't miss this step! The promo code field is not always immediately visible on the Stripe checkout page. You need to click "Add promotion code" to reveal the input field.
On the Stripe checkout page, look for the "Add promotion code" link (usually located below the order summary or price details)
Click "Add promotion code" to expand the promo code field
Enter your discount code (e.g., OCTOBRE, SJNONPROFIT30, NEXTLEVEL)
Click "Apply"
Step 3: Verify the discount was applied
After applying your code, the page should update immediately to show your discounted price. Always verify the discount before proceeding.
Before entering your payment information, confirm that:
The total amount has decreased - You should see the reduced price reflected in the order total
The discount code is visible - Your promo code should appear with a confirmation message like "Discount applied" or "Promotion code applied"
The discount percentage or amount is correct - Double-check that the discount matches what was offered (e.g., 30% off, $1 for 2 months)
Stop if you don't see the discount! If the price hasn't changed or you don't see the discount confirmation, do NOT complete the purchase. Close the checkout page and contact [email protected] for assistance.

Review the final discounted price one more time
Complete your purchase
You'll receive a confirmation email with your discounted subscription details
Method 2: Submit documentation for verification (non-profits and students only)
If you prefer to verify your status before purchasing, or if you're having issues with the discount code:
Step 1: Prepare your documentation
For non-profits, charities, and NGOs:
501(c)(3) determination letter
Employer Identification Number (EIN)
Registered charity number
Any formal document confirming non-profit status
For students:
Current student ID
Admission letter
Enrollment verification letter
Step 2: Submit your documentation
Email your documentation to [email protected]
Include in your email:
Your organization/school name
Which plan you're interested in
Any specific questions about the discount
Our team will review your submission within 1-2 business days
Step 3: Receive and apply your discount
We'll send you a personalized discount code or apply the discount directly to your account
If you receive a code, follow the steps above to apply it during Stripe checkout
If we apply it directly, upgrade your account and the discount will be automatically applied
Available promotional codes
Senja offers various promotional codes for different audiences. Here are some examples:
SJNONPROFIT30 - 30% off for life for verified non-profits
NEXTLEVEL - Senja Starter for $1/month for 2 months
Partner codes - Various codes from affiliate partners and influencers (e.g., OCTOBRE, STARTER1)
Some codes are plan-specific or have expiration dates. Always verify the terms of your specific offer.
Troubleshooting
I can't find the "Add promotion code" link
The link is typically located in the payment summary section on the Stripe checkout page
Look below the price details or order total
The text may say "Add promotion code" or "Add promo code"
If you still can't find it, try refreshing the page or starting the checkout process again
My discount code isn't working
Check the spelling - Promo codes are case-sensitive. Make sure you're entering it exactly as provided
Verify the code is valid - Some codes have expiration dates or are only valid for specific plans
Confirm plan compatibility - Some codes only work with annual plans or specific subscription tiers
One code at a time - You can only apply one promotional code per transaction
If the code still doesn't work, contact [email protected] with the code you're trying to use
I completed payment without applying my code
Unfortunately, discount codes cannot be applied retroactively to completed transactions. However, our support team may be able to help.

The checkout created a subscription before I could apply the code
If your subscription was activated before you had a chance to apply the promo code:
This can happen if you clicked through the payment screens too quickly

Wait for the cancellation to process (usually within 24 hours)
Start the upgrade process again and apply your promo code before completing payment
